Blue Lagoons/Ponds
There are three pond or lagoons that receives geothermal water connected to them through pipes from different wells in the Olkaria Geothermal Field.
The First Lagoon/Lagoon
The first pond is not usable for swimming as it receives geothermal water that is 90°C hot.
The Second Lagoon/Pool
The second pool receives geothermal water from the first pond/lagoon when it is full and overflows. It is not usable too as the waters here are now 60°C.
The Third Lagoon/Pool
Our interest is the third pool/lagoon.
The third pool and the largest lagoon receives geothermal water that overflows from the second lagoon. The temperature of the water is now around 30-40°C and fit for use.
This geothermal water is now therapeutic and provides unprecedented relaxation.
